The "Coup de soleil" is originally a song written and composed by Jean-Paul Dréau in 1978, immortalized by its interpreter, the Franco-Italian singer, Richard Cocciante.
Recorded in 1979 by Polydor, the title was released the following spring.
It was a hit, ranked number 7 in the French charts at the time.
This song has become a great classic of French variety and has been the subject of numerous covers.
In addition to being known for the interpretation of this tube, Richard Cocciante is notably known as the composer of the musical comedy Notre-Dame de Paris (1998).
